New Hope

I guess you could say that I am a huge closet nerd, because despite my appearance I have always fan girled over star wars. This movie in particular is one of my favorites out of the series for a number of reasons. In this movie it reflects on emotions like courage, strength, dedication, and compassion. Courage is displayed by Obi-Wan Kenobi when he reveals who he truly is to luke skywalker, despite what occurred in the past. Obi-Wan took the risk of hiding the baby boy with his relatives, and watched over him until he got older. When the droids were captured by the Jawa traders and sold to luke's family is when upon cleaning the droids he finds death star prints and a message from Leia. and when "Ben" reveals himself to Luke. Obi-Wan is moved by her message and requests that Luke go with him to her home planet to deliver the plans to the rebel alliance. Strength is shown because even after suffering the loss of his family and his home due to the Empire finding out about his involvement, Luke keeps fighting. Strength is shown by the princess for enduring her capture aboard the death star and making it through the destruction of her home planet Alderaan as a test of the death stars power. Obi-Wan despite being old agrees to help teach Luke the ways of the force, and is a huge help with the rebels cause. Dedication is shown because despite suffering substantial losses including several fighters, star ships, and the home planet of Alderaan, the rebel cause goes on. Dedication is also shown by Luke when he witnessed Darth Vader lay waste to his former master, and still carries on. The loss merely strengthens his dedication to the destruction of the Death Star to help even the odds in the war. Had they not acquired the help of the Millennium Falcon and its captains Han solo and Chewbacca,  the final hit to the Death star would not have been achievable. Compassion was shown by Han solo when after he was paid and instructed to leave, he saw Luke as the only remaining fighter and came back and Vader was sent away, and the final hit to the Death Star was made, and the planet fortress destroyed. Compassion was Luke and Obi-Wan's drive to save the princess and help the rebels with their cause, even before Luke had a personal stake in the rebellion.

  2. I definitely agree with you. You'd have to have compassion and determination if it were up to you to save the planets and destroy a very powerful weapon. I've heard people say before that they think Luke is cocky and full of himself during his quests. I think he is just someone who is trying to figure out who he is and what his calling is. I also think the feelings he showed towards the princess was nice. I think doing this big mission is a step in the direction for him to truly find out what his calling is. Which obviously is to be a Jedi Knight
