Star Wars: The Bane of My Existance

I was doing a great job at avoiding the Star Wars movies, that is until this class! Most of my life I have heard all of the nerdy 'Star Wars Quote' this and 'Star Wars Quote' that and never really knew anything about any of it. I had no desire to really watch any of the movies, nor to become one of those fans. I could have cared less about robots, or super hairy beastly animal people things, nor about any of the other odd things. I was always incredibly cynical when it came to someone talking to me about the latest episodes or what happened with this character or that character. I never cared one bit, that is until this course. I have found that though I spent so many years avoiding this series, like the plague, there are aspects that do interest me to an extent. I found that the most interesting quality, to me was the incredible use of technology. Given the time period that this series began, the technology is light-years ahead (pun intended). There are several technological components that contribute to the futuristic, space feel for the entire series. This was the most interesting characteristic to me, which isn't too shabby considering that it was like pulling teeth to get me to watch it in the first place.

  1. I thought the same thing when I was younger! It annoyed me a little when people were obsessed with these films, because I didn't understand. I can definitely see how people can really enjoy these, now that I have given it a chance with an open mind. I think I always had the preconceived notion that the films would be boring and meaningless and that is the sole reason that I never really enjoyed the films. I’m glad you also gave the film a chance and were able to reevaluate your opinion. I think that is a lesson in its own!
