The Star Wars Bond
I have always loved the Star Wars movies. When I was little my older brother and I would watch them together almost every weekend. He loved the robots and the technology of the movie. I, much younger than him, loved the funny sounds that everything made and the pretty light sabers. He loved Han Solo and Chewbacca the rebellious and lovable bachelors and I loved Luke Skywalker the cute and determined young learner. However, this movie with many different meanings brought my brother and I closer together. It has undertones of religion and love as well as the main points of war and the life of Skywalker. I have loved this movie since the time I was a kid and I don't think that will ever change.

Honestly, I have never been a fan of Star Wars. I couldn’t figure out why I didn’t ever want to watch the series. When I think about it, I get taken back to my childhood and when I was young Return of the Jedi was just coming out. I think Jabba The Hut grossed me out when I saw bits and pieces of the movie back then. After watching part four, I realize the movie has many other themes. I realize that it is about fighting good vs evil and believing in yourself characterized by the saying may the force be with you. Luke is challenged with the loss of his family and this drives him to help Liah save her home. I suppose I have a new perspective on Star Wars. Maybe I’ll find time to watch all of the movies after the semester is over.
ReplyDeleteI was never a fan of Star Wars, I just could not get into the movies. I guess there was other movies that I would rather watch when I was younger. I can see where you both would like different things because of the age difference since you were younger.
ReplyDeleteI was into the movies when I was younger as well! They were always a favorite past time of mine and I enjoyed them greatly! Chewbacca was always one of my personal favorites as well!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness you saying that about your brother is funny to me because I have a similar story. I also watched star wars often with my brother and he was a huge fan of the technology and movies in general. I didn't really understand the series then like i do now because i was like 5 when my brother and me would watch them. But I too loved the noises chewbacca made as well as R2D2
ReplyDeleteThe reason this movie persists is due to it's universal moral lessons it depicts. Making the proper choices, perseverance, and family ties are just a few. Chewbacca's howl (if you can call it that) is recognizable to people like myself who have never seen this movie. We all know who Luke Skywalker is. The producers of this movie succeeded in reaching the masses, I'd say.
ReplyDeleteI honestly was never a fan of these movies. My brother and mom liked them and could watch them anytime. Once around the block was always good enough for me. I did though have two favorite characters one being Darth Vadar and the other was Queen Amadalla. I remember the one year my brother got a light saber and I wanted one too so my mom got me one and I would fight my brother with it. I think I more likes the gadgets that came out more than the movie because I had queen Amadalla everything at one point but didn't care about the movie, I was also little when these movies came out and my brother was older than me so he understood them better than I did, but even after watching A New Hope at 23yrs old I'm still not a big fan.
