Like Dale, everything in my life
could be described in one word…small. I came from a small town, went to a small
school, and kept a small group of friends. The best way I could describe myself
would be as an introvert, however I will never turn my nose up at anyone that
gives me a friendly hello.
One of the reasons that I keep a close
group of friends is mainly because of the concept of comfortability. I have a
shy and quiet attitude when it comes to meeting new people. Generally, I try to
refrain from allowing myself to let loose and show my true colors. The reason
for this is that I don’t want to let my hopes get too high about getting close
to someone and they turn out to be a fake friend. My thought process about this
situation is a product of my parents’ thoughts and teachings since I was a
small boy.
My time here at Mansfield University,
I have become great friends with a handful of people. I believe the reason we
get along so well is the fact that we share those same traits. I guess you
could say I’d rather have four quarters than one-hundred pennies.
I have always wished to be able to
be confident enough to get up in front of crowds or be able to go start a
conversation with a random person. The reality in my case is that I don’t want
to go outside my comfort zone. I hope throughout the rest of my life I could change
by becoming more social and be less afraid of possibly embarrassing myself in
front of others.
