Ree
is a bad ass. Not only does she care for her younger brother and sister and her
mother at the young age of seventeen, she does not take no for an answer.
Throughout the movie she shows this in multiple different scenes. I think that
her determination plays huge part in how Ree acquires her knowledge. In one
particular scene, Ree goes to talk to Thump Milton and is ultimately turned
down, but she does not give up. Her stubbornness and determination to find her
father leads her to find Thump and confront him herself. After several events
and getting beat up, Ree eventually gets her way and is led to where her father’s
body is.
Throughout
the movie, Ree is trying to acquire knowledge as to where her father may be. It
is ultimately her determination that allows her to gain the knowledge that she
needed.
While you were short and to the point I think your conclusion of Ree is rather accurate. I mean she is a bad ass for sure. She shows this just by her sheer determination throughout the whole book. She takes many blows gets neglected and is constantly mistreated but in the end she just keeps plugging away until she finds her answers. Even if all the mistreatment does bother her inside. She definitely never shows it and is able to maybe perhaps use it as fuel. Regardless of her tactics there is no doubt she is definitely a bad ass.
ReplyDeleteI think you make a correct point. She is definitely bad ass. I think you could've gone into a bit more detail. She is a very determined. I think her determination is more than just a personality trait. She was so pushy with Milton because of her family. I think a lot of her drive comes from her love for her family. She knew that if she didn't find her father they would lose their house. So I would expect her to be pushy and stubborn and not give up because her family's safety is her number one priority.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with you. I’m twenty years old and have helped raise my niece, but I was never the main caregiver. Age doesn’t always have correlation with ability, but Ree deserves all the credit for taking care of her siblings. She goes above and beyond, also, by making sure that these children have the essential skills to take care of themselves in case anything happened. Not to mention that she is also taking care of her mother and the house. I think we can all learn a lot from this woman when it comes to things we are grateful for.
