It was a surprise to me to learn that at some point Earth
may no longer exist. I don’t know why, but I never thought of that happening until
I viewed the videos this week. I suppose it’s refreshing to know that we
possibly could sustain life on Mars. Science and technology is amazing. It has
changed the way we live our lives. Will we be taking trips to Mars to visit our
grand-kids or for vacation? I believe we are closer to this than most people
think. I can’t imagine what traveling faster than the speed of light will feel
like or needing to put on a special suit just to go outside. Actually, I hope
they figure that part out because that seems like a huge inconvenience just to
go outside. I wonder if life on Mars will compare to the television cartoon The
Jetsons. After all they are known as the family of the future. Then again, is
all this for nothing? Will a huge meteorite destroy Earth and all human life
before we can establish sustainable life elsewhere? I don’t know the answers to
any of these questions. I don’t even know what to think or wrap my brain around
the fact that Earth and the human race could be destroyed.
This is the video that I like as well. Very good detail. I like how you say will we visit our grandkids for a vacation? that is a good thing to think about. You make good points to think about and questions that need to be answered. Very good details and it was nice reading your post.
ReplyDeleteI first would like to start with the picture at the bottom of your blog post. It just sets the blog up I feel. You stated that technology and science is amazing and has changed our lives. Do you think that science and technology could impact in a negative way? If we don’t control ourselves than I can’t agree more that the earth will be destroyed. We hold the future in our hands. It would be cool to travel and visit people on another planet. Overall you had a good post and very good detail.
ReplyDeleteOf course it is hard to think about. As humans life and the Earth are all that we have known. But, maybe this is a good advancement that we are making then. Looking into and researching life on mars could be the future, our future as humans. I'm not sure if I would call us the Jetsons though, maybe humans will evolve into little green men. :)
ReplyDeleteI agree, it is hard to wrap your mind around. The thought of earth and civilization as we know it; gone. As I stated in my post, however, I am glad there are those that do think along those lines. I liked you reference of the Jetsons. The family of the future...I remember! They too traveled in space ship bubbles and their houses were basically the same only larger. I don't believe that we will be here forever. Not something anyone likes to think about because we are comfortable here on Earth, however, I am sure there will come a time when we have exhausted all resources. Like you said, we are probably closer to living on the Red Planet than we think. Good post.
