On a clear
starry night, I can look at the stars for hours. The moon’s glow
hypnotizes me. This beauty and wonderment; not created by the hands of man.
I am in awe of it all. From a great
distance I ponder the outer most limits and after watching these episodes of
the Universe, I’ve decided I’m ok with that distance. I will not be the
first to pack my bags to head to Mars or any other planet, star or asteroid for
that matter. I simply don’t think like these scientist and adventurers,
but I am glad there are others that do! For those of us that do not like
tight, confined spaces, or the feeling of weightlessness for longer than a dip
in a pool or that split second at the top of a steep drop on a roller-coaster
ride would allow; it’s wonderful that we have these brave individuals that have
experienced such things and can share it with us.
Mars: the most like Earth, but unhospitable at best,
appears to be the next target for human landings, after the moon. However, this side of an elevator trip through
the sky and neat roving transportation once you get there, they lost me at “. .
. that’s it, you could die . . .” should anything go wrong . . . with anything
. . . at any time! Overcoming those obstacles
and dangers each day would not be a draw for me, it doesn’t’ matter how
beautiful the view is. However, I enjoy
listening to these brilliant minds when allowed a glimpse inside their world to
see what the future will most likely hold for those brave enough to take the
trip.
