I found the episode Colonizing Space interesting because I
had no idea that was a possibility or even an idea. They talk about potentially
colonizing Mars and the Moon, and they would start around 2040. This could
happen in our current generation and it is hard to believe this is already
possible with technology. I think it is good that they want life on another
planet in the sense that if something happened to earth, we would still have
people to continue human life, but the idea scares me when think about it.
There would be negatives to your body, like bones and respiratory system would
weaken. It seems like it would be a fun project to get an ecosystem or plant
life growing on Mars. I think with humans though, is another story because it
will be extremely different to life on earth. They are worried how Astronauts
react on a trip, but a year on another planet could be a lot more concerning
for the people involved. They would also be altering the natural state of the
planet. All I can imagine is the TV show, The Jetsons, and how we would be
living in a completely different world. It is interesting to think about, but
scary if something would go wrong. When you need to bring everything you need
to survive, including air, there is a bigger chance you would forget or run out
of something.
I found your info very interesting. I liked how you described both positives and negatives of colonization on another planet. I find it interesting that this issue doesn't get even more attention. I'm not even a big space guy but there is no doubt that this topic should definitely be looked more into.
ReplyDeleteI too believe that colonizing on Mars is mind blowing! Trying to wrap my mind around that there is a possibility that there may be people living on Mars in 2040 is absolutely crazy! I feel that there is no real reason to do this though. It seems as though it would be very expensive to do and the danger involved with it. It is a cool concept but I feel it is a little too far-fetched and unnecessary. But if there was a one day pass to go visit mars then in that case I wouldn’t pass it up.
ReplyDeleteAfter watching the documentary about life on Mars, all I could think was how claustrophobic and confining it would be. Then I read your post. The Jetsons – I love that show! So now maybe living on another planet may not be so bad. It may even be fun. It would be very cool to run around in your own personal spacecraft and have space age gadgets and clothes. I definitely prefer living on planet Earth to living on Mars. However, exploring new planets could be exciting as long as you could go home.
