If I Close My Eyes . . .

A glimpse of a world that intrigues me.  A slice of time; years apart, in a parallel world.  Flags flying high in the cool morning air as the city starts to come alive.  I pull my wrap around me a little tighter for warmth as I find my way through the winding streets.  This time of day is my favorite.  The smell of breakfast cooking over open flame, floats through the air.    The sun, peeking its head over roof tops as the early risers make their way to the market place to sell and buy their wares.  I close my eyes for a moment to take in the sounds around me. A dog barks in the distance, signaling a few others that answer his call.  The sound of wooden wagon wheels grinding dirt between them and cobblestones, and a mule plodding along leading the wagon; hooves striking the same cobbles with a rhythm all their own.  Chickens rustle and cluck in a pen not far off and two men bickering over whose sward would be better in battle.

I continue my morning walk and find my way to a quiet place where I could take in the view for hours.  The beauty of this land is amazing. The White Tower rises boldly into the sky behind me.  I am in my home of Minas Tirith in the Realm of Gondor.  The land where battles are well fought and won by conquering knights and Kings, in a time of bravery and honor.  This land of the King in a time of Hobbits, Dwarfs, Elves and Men . . . taken from the great imagination of Tolkien.  If I were able to play with time and parallel worlds, that is where you would find me.

  1. So you also want to live in another galaxy. I believe that many share our view because we are tired of our lives on Earth, living the Same Shit Different Day (SSDD, from Stephen King's "Dreamcatcher") routine. Do you think that if we lived in the same galaxy, that the daily routines of the human race would stay the same or would it be different enough for us to be excited about?

  2. I have gone through day dreaming of walking on my own planet as much you have described. I feel as there is a planet out there for everyone, if they could only imagine that far. There is so much of the galaxy that is unexplored. When you close your eyes i feel as if that planet could be out there for you. You used good detail on describing the context of the beauty of the landscape of your planet. Wouldnt it be nice to have a planet that everyone got along. It is nice to sit back and dream of a planet without all the unrest. Used exceptionally well detail in describing your blog as it seems like i was there.

  3. Good choice! I loved the world that Tolkien created. It had beautiful landscape and honorable people. Of course there was also evil. But, the honorable and the brave fought, some giving their lives, to rid their world of that evil. In that world, your imagination could run wild and it probably existed somewhere. If I were to take part in this world, I would want to be a warrior elf.
