Chapter 1
There is no doubt that America has changed a lot over the years, and I think that is what chapter one is trying to establish here. "If there is a statue of a hog butcher somewhere in Chicago, then it stands as a reminder of the time when America was railroads, cattle, steel mills and entrepreuaneors adventures." (31) I think this sentence lone represents what this chapter is about and how things have defeinitely changed, not just for the good, but also for the worse. Just look at how Detroit rose and fell over time or how New York has changed yet seemed to have progressed as the years gone buy. From transportation to even small things like foods and sports there is no doubt this country has changed a lot over the years.

I also chose chapter 1. I like how you incorporated the page number by your quote, I forgot to do that. I also agree with you on how our cities have changed. I used my great grandpa as an example in my blog. He is 96 years old. He has seen cars go from only the wealthy and well off can afford them and everyone else had horses to seeing the kind of cars and technology we have in this day and age. After reading the book I asked him what his views were of the changes in our society and he thinks that some of them such as cars and phones are good because it improves how we get around and communicate with each other. But what he doesn't like about all of this new change is how media has changed from where it used to only be news to now where its whose dress is the nicest in Hollywood. Overall I think your blog was good my only critique is that maybe you proof read a little more next time.
