Hogwarts: Heroes in Training

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone is the first book of J.K. Rowling’s well known book series that was turned into big screen hits.  As the name indicates, the series follows the main character who’s name is Harry Potter.  During the first book you watch Harry grow and change right before your eyes and it’s important to really examine what helped Harry make those changes.  Harry’s whole life changes when he finds out he has been invited to be a student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.  The result of that is Harry having the freedom to be himself and really develop into his own person.  At the start of the first book Harry lacks confidence.  The support system Harry has developed at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry has allowed him to gain confidence in himself and in his abilities.  Harry has shown his confidence in his ability to stand up for himself, his friends, and his new home at Hogwarts.

  1. I can see the development of Harry’s confidence as the book, and even the series, progresses. At first, he is very reserved because of the Dursley family, who started taking care of Harry because of his parents’ deaths. I think the freedom to be on his own, with his own friends in his own dormitory, helped the growth of his confident composure. This confidence definitely helps him learn easier, because he stops doubting himself and realizes that his potential is great. He knows that he has confidence because he has worked for it and not solely because his parents were great wizards.

  2. I also agree with the fact that Harry develops confidence throughout his experiences at Hogwarts. Without his friends Harry would'not have accomplished the things he did. As he opens up to his friends and classmates, Harry begins as an introvert and eventually comes out of his shell and becomes more of an extrovert. I feel your introduction is very well constructed to develop into a great paper.

  3. I agree greatly with you in the sense that Harry's confidence blossoms throughout his journey at Hogwarts. He not only finds out that he is a Wizard, but he also finds out that he has been missing out on an amazing support system his entire life. Once he meets some other characters that are starting out the same journey that he is, Harry begins to develop in several different aspects. He learns that he can have faith in others, he learns to trust. I agree that his friends are a great contributing factor to this growth. I think you have a great start!
