Reevolution: Ree’s Riveting Resilience

As it turns out, not even a methamphetamine dealer can stop a seventeen year-old’s intentions.  A Winter’s Bone is a suspenseful film about the power struggle between family relations and drugs. The main character, Ree Dolly, displays resounding determination to get the unsettling but necessary closure about her slain drug-dealing father. Without Ree’s relentless effort to navigate through the network of local crime and drama, her siblings would falter in their journey toward self-sufficiency. The grave sequence of events she is exposed to only heighten her awareness to what reality is like in her impoverished community. Formal education in the secluded Ozark Mountains is seldom found, but Ree's experience in the area has made her incredibly street smart.
