Whenever
a person looks up a list of classic novels the usual turnout are those written
before the 1990s, the most of which having been written in the early 1900s and
1800s. Writing a novel, or even a book, that one day will make the classic list is a feat worth bragging about.
J.K. Rowling has very likely achieved this goal with her Harry Potter series. The very first instalment of this seven book
series, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s
Stone, is filled with loads of literary magic, both figuratively and literally.
One of these magical elements is the characters and their personalities. When
Rowling wants the readers to hate a character, they do. When Rowling wants the
readers to love a character, they do so as well. One such character that the
readers cannot help but to fall in love with is the title character and main protagonist,
Harry Potter. Harry’s character is, for the most part, relatively quiet and
he uses this characteristic to observe the world around him to gain knowledge.
When I first started to read your intro I was very interested in the way that you started it. It’s something that I’ve never seen and I’m not sure if it is pleasing for the reader either. J.K. Rowling is a very good author and has a way with working her characters the way she wants she is able to portray this with the great writing that she has. You state in the end that everyone can’t help but to fall in love with Harry Potter and this is true he able to fight through so much to end up where he is at in the books today. He has so much determination for his life and what he wants to do.
