Friendship

In Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, the three friends (Harry, Ron, and Hermione) deeply rely on each other to get through their struggles in and out of school.  The same could be said about Ree and her two younger siblings in Winter’s Bone.  Both books put a strong emphasis on helping and relying on others.

In some way or another, almost everyone relies on other people for help.  If there were ever any problems I needed help with, I know I can rely on friends and family to help me out. For example, I was in a really bad accident last year around this time. I was driving down one of the dirt roads near my home, and hit a patch of black ice. My car spun out of control and struck a bank. I was in really bad shape so I got on my cell phone and called my friend Dave, who lived a couples miles up the road. Dave called for help and immediately rushed down to where my car was totaled. He waited for the tow truck to come and let me go back with him to his house to make sure everything was okay.  Later on that night my parents came by to pick me up.  I then told them the whole story and they were completely fine with the car being totaled and that the only thing they cared about was me being unharmed.  This is one of the main reasons why people need others to rely on because every person needs help with their problems.

  1. I enjoyed reading this. I definitely agree. I think you always need someone in your life who can easily without a doubt rely on. I have a few childhood friends who I know will always be there for me. I will be there for them as well. It's comforting to have people like that in your life even if it's only a few. I'm sorry to hear about your accident but glad to know you were safe and that your friend Dave was able to be there for you. Good job! Very nice and well written post.

  2. I like your comparison between Harry, Ron, and Hermione, and Ree and her siblings relying on each other. It is true that without strong bonds with family or friends it would be difficult. I also can relate on the car accident. I too had a bad accident. Mine was in 2013 around this time but it was on a back road by my house and I hit black ice and my cars passenger side wrapped around a tree. I was very lucky that no one was with me and that it wasn't on my drivers side. When the tow truck came they said if it was my drivers side I would not have survived. It was definitely very scary and I was very thankful for my family and friends support during that time. It is a great feeling knowing that people have your back and want to help you! Overall I liked your free-writing blog and only found one spelling error.
